BIM (Building Information Modeling) Panel Discussion

Moderated by Kevin Lewis, PE LEED AP BD+C

 

Topic of Discussion

Join us at the March ASHRAE meeting for an informative and lively discussion on Building Information Modeling (BIM). We will host a panel of BIM users representing multiple constituencies in our industry. Panel members will discuss how they’re using BIM, what works and what doesn’t, BIM levels and agreements, and the future of modeling in the construction industry. Audience participation will be encouraged so come prepared with questions.

    

Guest Speakers 

  Kevin Lewis PE, LEED AP BD&C

Lead Mechanical Engineer, Henderson Engineers

Kevin is a mechanical engineer, Vice President, and Sports Practice Director at Henderson Engineers. He has more than 16 years of experience. He has been actively involved in the mechanical design for many sports facilities including recreational, collegiate, and professional. Kevin lives in Olathe with his wife and 2 young children.

 

 Matt Keys AIA, LEED AP

Project Designer, HOK

Matt was born in New York, raised in California, and graduated from Blue Valley High School in 2001. He survived life as the only boy among three female siblings. He graduated at the top of his class, with Honors, from the University of Kansas in 2007 with a Masters in Architecture. He started his career as an intern at HOK Sport in his fifth year of school and became full time once graduating. He became a licensed architect in 2014, approximately two months before his son was born. He has been married since 2009, and currently works at HOK as a Project Designer with an emphasis in collegiate architecture.

 

Jared Palan, PE

Mechanical Engineer, Clark Enerson Partners

Jared is an associate at The Clark Enersen Partners where he has worked as a mechanical engineer for the past five years. During his time with Clark Enersen Partners, Jared has been involved in mechanical and plumbing design for both new and retrofit buildings including higher education projects, libraries, and banks. Jared has also acted as the construction administrator on multiple projects. 

Ryan Starkovich, PE

Mechanical Engineer, Henderson Engineers

Ryan attended the University of Wyoming, graduating in 2007 with a degree in Architectural Engineering. He has been with Henderson Engineers since graduation. He has more than eight years of mechanical design experience with Henderson’s sports practice team. His portfolio includes a wide range of sports facilities including arenas, stadiums, and practice facilities.

Jimmy Fickbohm

Digital Draftsman, Hufft Projects

Jimmy is a former BIM developer for The Clark Enersen Partners and Henderson Engineers. He is currently a digital craftsman in the fabrication department at Hufft Projects where he does computer modeling and fabrication. He grew up in a small town in Kansas and attended Manhattan Area Technical College where he studied Drafting and Design. He loves to design and build things. He also enjoys spending time with his young daughter.

Trent Nichols, LEED AP

Vice President and National BIM Director, JE Dunn

Trent is a Vice President and National BIM Director at JE Dunn Construction. He has worked on many projects in numerous markets that use BIM. He has been with JE Dunn for nearly 9 years and has been in the industry for 13 years.
